Moscone Marsh
mixed media photo collage on board, 14”x11”
Today, South of Market, Howard Street flows past the new
SFMOMA and through Moscone Center and along Yerba Buena Gardens. One
time it was a neighborhood of industrial buildings and working class, inexpensive
flats and rooming houses, during the Gold Rush it earned the moniker Happy Valley as the dunes and marshes
gave way to the growth of San Francisco.
Perhaps, after sea levels rise, we might let nature take its course and
the tide can beginning flowing where cars now zoom down the street.
